CHI History 1999–today
Our cardiology practice was established by Dr. Baroudi in 1999. Between 1999 and 2005, the practice grew a four specialists group, covering 3 locations. It had to be restructured after hurricane Katrina, and has 1-2 cardiologists at the main Gulfport location only. In 2015, CHI entered into an agreement with Memorial Hospital at Gulfport to become a Memorial Coast Heart Institute (Memorial Physicians Clinic), and started a new phase of growth and expansion. Today, the practice has 4 cardiologists, a Physician Assistant (PA), 8 Nurse Practitioners, 5 Nurses, 4 Medical Assistants, and 8 clerical staff (administrators and front desk receptionists) covering 7 locations in 4 counties and 6 cities in South Mississippi.
Throughout its history, Coast Heart Institute has maintained the highest level of ethical principles and provided the best, most conscientious, personalized, yet evidence-based, medical care to over 60,000 patients.
