Coast Heart Institute and Memorial Hospital are developing a structural heart procedures program. Structural heart procedures are minimally invasive surgical procedures, performed by cardiologists, by gaining entry into the heart through a peripheral artery and performing a variety of repairs of structural heart problems, such as valve repair, without the need for making a cut in the chest and performing open heart surgery. These minimally invasive procedures can significantly reduce recovery time, and, more importantly, they can be performed on patients who are not eligible for open heart surgery.
We will start our program with Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) procedure. TAVR has been a breakthrough in mitral valve repair and we are thrilled that we will be able to provide this service locally and not have to refer our patients to other facilities in and out of state. Dr. Malik of Coast Heart Institute is leading this program.
We will update this page as the program progress to its start date.
